Mortar is about 27% of brickwork volume. Dry volume is 1.33 × the wet volume. For a 1 : x cement-to-sand ratio, cement is 1 ÷ (1 + x) of the dry volume and sand is x ÷ (1 + x). One 50 kg bag of cement is about 0.0347 m³. Add 5–10% for wastage.
