Flywheel Energy Storage
Calculate the moment of inertia and stored kinetic energy of a flywheel disc or ring, and the energy released over a speed drop, free online.
À propos de cette calculatrice
Kinetic energy E = ½·I·ω², with moment of inertia I = ½mr² for a solid disc or mr² for a thin ring, and ω = 2π·rpm ÷ 60. The usable energy between two speeds is ½I(ω₁² − ω₂²). A 50 kg, 0.3 m disc at 3000 rpm stores about 111 kJ (0.03 kWh).
