Single elimination with n teams needs n − 1 matches and ⌈log₂ n⌉ rounds, with byes filling the bracket to the next power of two. Double elimination needs about 2n − 2 matches (2n − 1 if a bracket reset is played). Round robin needs n(n − 1)/2 matches, each team playing n − 1.
