About this calculator

The simple moving average (SMA) averages the last N values. The exponential moving average (EMA) weights recent values more with α = 2 ÷ (N + 1): EMAₜ = α·xₜ + (1 − α)·EMAₜ₋₁, seeded with the first SMA. Used for smoothing prices, sales and sensor data.
