Resting energy requirement RER = 70 × (weight in kg)^0.75 kcal/day. Daily energy DER = RER × a life-stage factor (neutered adult dog 1.6, active dog 2.0, weight-loss 1.0, puppy 2–3; neutered cat 1.2, active cat 1.4, kitten 2.5). Divide by the food's kcal per 100 g for the daily amount. Your vet's advice always comes first.
