Displacement per cylinder = ฯ/4 ร boreยฒ ร stroke; engine displacement = that ร cylinders. Compression ratio CR = (swept volume + clearance volume) รท clearance volume, where clearance includes the chamber, gasket and piston dish. Higher CR gives more efficiency but needs higher-octane fuel.
